Wow! I didn't even get the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award winner right!! :-)

Congrats, Linda! Thanks for the fun, Chuck! Next year, maybe they'll let you host the Oscars!

I want a recount... how could "Benjamin Button" get the Oscar for visual effects over "Dark Knight"? I mean, come on...all they did was make Brad Pitt look a little older, then a lot younger. "Dark Knight" had to create a whole city.

And, although I picked him to win the award for best actor, is there any actor out there that's more insufferable than Sean Penn?

All in all, a good show. Hugh Jackman was terrific as host, and the musical bit with Beyonce was well worth watching. I'll be yawning all day.

The opening act was great! I have to say my favprite mment was when Whoopi Goldberg made jokes about being a nun. I didnt do to bad at guessing. its a passing grade Hah!I agree Hugh did an outstanding job as host...and I am not sure the world's ready for Chuck Minsker to host!!!!

I knew I shoulda picked Sean Penn. But I went with sentimentality, rather then my head. And I'm with Mark, "Dark Knight" was robbed!

I love musicals as much as the next person. Still, I'd have much rather seen the three nominees for Best Original Song performed in their entirities. They didn't throw "Down To Earth" a bone--it was more like a table scrap.

If Mickey Rourke had to go down for the three count, at least it was to Sean Penn. From everything I've heard, he gave a great performance--and it's the kind of role/film the Academy likes to reward. Maybe "Milk" will go into wider release & play here again for more than just a week.

Aside from that, color me unhappy with the Oscars as a whole.

Glad to see "Man on Wire" win, although it would've been nice to see a Herzog victory.

I agree with mark on the first two points most definitely.

I'm most excited about Kate Winslet's much deserved win, and the awards for Slumdog. I talked to some family members who had been to India, and they said the movie played very true to the culture they saw there.

(I've been out of town - bear with me while I pay catch-up.)

Neal, Let me host the Oscars? Only if America would be entertained by watching me stand there and quiver with fear. But thanks for the vote of confidence!

Mark, I agree about Sean Penn. After the writer of the "Milk" screenplay gave such a moving speech, Penn didn't exactly measure up. I figure he thought Mickey Rourke was going to win, too.

Zach, I do think Jackman was a terrific host. If they're smart, they'll try to get him back next year. I also liked using five past winners to hand out the awards.

Denise, I still think Rourke should have won. And "Dark Knight" was great, but I was still rooting for "Iron Man."

Melanie, sorry you didn't like the Oscars - I just think they need better movies to nominate, or they should be more open to popular movies like "Dark Knight" and "Wall-E." The more the academy focuses on art movies and ignores popular films, the more they alienate the viewers.

Evan, I need to see "Man on Wire" - your brother was raving about it.

Stephen, I was rooting for "Slumdog" - not only was it great, it was also the only nominee I saw this year!

I didn't like the musical bit in the middle with Beyonce at all, but I loved the opening musical sequence! Did anyone else notice that the last segment in the opening that ended with "I'm Wolverine!" was based very closely on "This Is The Moment" From Jekyll & Hyde? It was almost a note for note copy.

My favorite moment of the night was the acceptance speech for best animated short. ("Sank you...Sank you...Sank You...Domo Arigato, Mr,. Roboto!") LOL... I was snowbound at a hotel in Morgantown, and I laughed so hard I'm sure the neighboring rooms heard me.

Ryan, I did enjoy Jackman's performance - and enjoyed his lament that action movies don't get more love. And I also laughed loudly at the "Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto" line.
