On Stage in April

   No April Foolin' here - there are lots of great shows on the way this month! 

   Here’s the list:

Junie B. Jones the Musical - First Stage Theatre Company presents the show based on the beloved books on April 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and April 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Huntington High School Theatre at 1 Highlander Way. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under. Tickets are available at the door or can be reserved by calling 304-416-KIDS.


- Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare - Marshall University’s Theatre Department presents the classic play on April 20, 21, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for faculty and senior citizens, $7 for children ages 5 to 12, and free to Marshall students with valid ID. 

- Once - The Marshall Artist's Series presents the touring Broadway musical that won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and winner of the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. It will play at the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26. Tickets are $93.95, $77.90, $67.20 and $60.78 and are available by calling the Marshall Artists Series Box Office at 304-696-6656, visiting the box office from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or at ticketmaster.com.

The Last 5 Years - The Alban Arts and Conference Center presents the musical on April 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 8 p.m., and April 10 and 17 at 2 p.m. at the Alban Arts and Conference Center at 65 Olde Main Street in Saint Albans. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and children.

Bert Hellmunn Fights The Demons Of The Stage - The Contemporary Youth Arts Company presents the original play by Dan Kehde on April 1 and 2 at 8 p.m. at the WVSU Capitol Center Theater at 123 Summers Street in Charleston. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students.

Three Men and a Baby* (*grand) - A benefit concert featuring Ryan Hardiman, Jonathan Tucker and Mark Scarpelli will be presented as the Regional Teen Institute Spring Fundraiser on April 1 at 7 p.m. at the Christ Church United Methodist at 1221 Quarrier Street in Charleston. Tickets are $20 for adults and  $10 for children under 12. 

ACTC 3rd Annual New Play Festival - The collection of new works will be presented April 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. and April 3 at 2:30 p.m. at the ACTC JB Sowards Theatre at 1400 College Drive in Ashland. Tickets are $5.

Alice Through the Looking Glass - The LimeLight Theatre Company will present the play on April 29, 30 and May 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. and May 1 and 8 at 2 p.m. at the  WVSU Capitol Center Theater at 123 Summers Street in Charleston. Tickets are$15 for adults and $12 for ages 12 and under.

Ring of Fire - Jenny Wiley Theatre presents the musical about Johnny Cash on March 31, April 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and April 3 at 3 p.m. and April 9 and 16 at 2 p.m. on the Pikeville Main Stage.

The Fantasticks - West Virginia State University Theatre presents the hit musical on April 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and April 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the Skeen Theatre, Cole Building in Institute. Admission is free; donations to Box 5 Theatre student organization are gratefully accepted.

- Into the Woods, Jr. - Fairland High School's theater department present Stephen Sondheim's humorous and realistic twist on a string of fairy tales Friday through Sunday, April 15-17, at the Fairland High School Cafetorium. Tickets are $6 and are available at the door.

School House Rock Live! - The Winfield Show Choir present the musical on April 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and April 10 at 2 p.m. at Winfield High School. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and under.
