It's a busy weekend in Huntington for community theatre, as this story in the Herald-Dispatch reveals:
At a time when such British fare as “Downton Abbey” continues to captivate audiences, what could be more hip than to take a musical walk though a 1911 British novel? The Fifth Avenue Theatre Company takes just such a stroll as they unravel the mysteries in the musical, “The Secret Garden,” a 1991 Broadway musical with music by Carly Simon’s sister Lucy that breathed new life into the perennially popular novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
Fifth Avenue kicks off the production at 8 p.m. Friday and has a two weekend run of the show, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 8-9m and 8 p.m. March 15-16. Matinees are set for Sunday, March 10 and Sunday, March 17 at the Jean Carlo Stephenson Auditorium at City Hall.
Tickets are $12 for festival seating. For more information call Maxine Loudermilk at (304) 696-5522 or Eddie Harbert at (304) 544-2831.
