ONSTAGE THIS WEEK:
- “42nd Street” - Charleston Light Opera Guild presents the singing and dancing classic atd the Little Theatre at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center on May 10 and 11. Set in 1933, it follows the story of a young woman who rises to stardom on the Broadway stage. The show features a score by Al Dubin and Harry Warren and features hits like “Lullaby of Broadway” and “Shuffle Off to Buffalo.”
- "A Midsummer Night's Dream" - Riverside High School presents the Shakespeare play on Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m. Admission is $3 or a canned food donation.

UPCOMING LIVE THEATRE
- “Something Rotten!” – The Clay Center at 1 Clay Square in Charleston will present the touring Broadway musical hit on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.
- “God Help Us” - The Alban Arts Center presents the political comedy where God steps in, featuring Ed Asner playing the title role. It will be presented on May 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for children and senior citizens.
- “Mamma Mia” - The Aracoma Story at Logan State Park presents the musical based on the hit songs by Abba. The show will be presented at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheatre on May 29, 30, 31, June 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15 and 16 at 8:30 p.m.
- “William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night” - Alchemy Theatre will present the play in conjunction with The Second Annual West Virginia Shakespeare Festival. It will be performed at Barboursville Park in Barboursville, WV, on May 31, June 1, June 7 and June 8.
- “CATS” - Southern Coalition for the Arts will present Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical based on T. S. Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.” Shows will take place June 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 7 p.m., and June 9 at 3 p.m. All performances will take place at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College.
- “Mamma Mia” - Huntington Area Regional Theater and the Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District present the musical based on the hits by ABBA. The shows will be presented in the Ritter Park Amphitheater on June 14, 15, 16, 21, 22 and 23. Gates open at 7 p.m. , the Community Pre-Show starts at 7:30 p.m., and "Mamma Mia" at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors (60+) and Children (2-12), and $10 for Groups (10+).
- “Bright Star” - The Charleston Light Opera Guild will present the Appalachian style musical at the Light Opera Guild Theatre before and during FestivALL Charleston on June 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30. From Grammy, Emmy and Academy Award winning actor Steve Martin and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Edie Brickell, Bright Star is the five-time Tony-nominated Broadway musical that The New York Times called a "shining achievement.”
- "Jack the Ripper" - The Contemporary Youth Arts Company (CYAC) will present the play at Elk City Playhouse on June 20 to 29.
- “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” and “Disney’s Frozen, Jr.” - Huntington Area Regional Theater and the Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District will present two musicals at the Ritter Park Amphitheatre on July 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for the Disney's Frozen Jr. Pre-Show at 7:00 p.m. and Disney's The Little Mermaid at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors (60+) and Children (2-12), and $10 for Groups (10+).

AUDITIONS:
- “Macbeth” - The Alban Arts Center will hold auditions on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.
- “Guys and Dolls” - Paramount Players will hold auditions at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 15 at the Paramount Arts Center. Music auditions are available in the box office. Wednesday will be the dance combination and reading from the script. The show will be the first weekend in August. Auditions are open to ages 14 to adult. We need a large ensemble of singers and dancers.
- “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” - The Pea Ridge Players will hold auditions on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pea Ridge United Methodist Church at 5747 East Pea Ridge Road in Huntington. The musical / rock opera, created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, is based on the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors from the book of Genesis, and will be staged by the Pea Ridge Players. Auditions are open to ages 8 to 108, with many roles available for all ages. Those auditioning may arrive anytime during the scheduled auditions and should be prepared to sing about 30 seconds of the song of their choice. An accompanist will be provided. The directing team includes director Chuck Minsker and music director Dr. Alex Lee, Assistant Professor of Voice Music and Opera Director and the Coordinator of Voice Studies at Marshall University. Rehearsals will begin at the church on June 3, and performances will be staged Aug. 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m., and Aug. 11 and 18 at 3 p.m.
- "Shrek: The Musical" - The Charleston Light Opera Guild will hold auditions for the musical as follows: Singing / Reading will be on Saturday, June 1 at 10 a.m. OR Sunday, June 2 at 7 p.m. Dancing will be on Tuesday, June 4 at 7 p.m. All auditions will be held at the Charleston Light Opera Guild Theatre. The musical will be presented on August 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11, 2019, at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Little Theatre.
