Carol Channing Passes

Sad to report the passing of Broadway legend Carol Channing, 97, who passed away at her California home this morning of natural causes.

She was best known for her star turn on Broadway in the title role in Hello, Dolly - a part she played for 5,000 consecutive performances!

According to legend, her understudy in that show was the talented Jo Anne Worley (who would go on to star on the TV show Laugh In). Carol went to her and said something like, "I know you're wonderful and talented, but I should warn you - you're never going on." And she didn't, because Carol never missed a show - an amazing feat!

You can read more about Channing at this link, and in dozens of loving obituaries posted today.
