"The Music of Les Miserables"

  The Academy Ensemble, under the musical direction of Dr. Mark Hornbaker will perform a selection of classic songs from the Broadway hit, Les Miserables on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Alban Arts Center in St. Albans

   The Broadway show Les Miserables is one of the most popular musicals since its premiere in 1985. The musical is based on the best-selling novel by Victor Hugo and is set in 19th century France. 

   This dramatic story of love, heartbreak, justice and redemption has become an indelible component of the world’s theatre community and its songs are now entrenched in popular culture. 

   The show will include such favorite songs as “I Dreamed a Dream,” “Stars,” “Master of the House,” “At the End of the Day,” “In My Life” and more.

    The group will be accompanied by Dr. Mark Hornbaker and will be under the general direction of Joe Wallace. The concert is being held as a benefit for the Alban Arts Center located at 65 Olde Main Plaza in St. Albans, West Virginia.
