Here’s the show lineup for the week, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. Upcoming shows and auditions are also listed. If I've missed anything, please let me know.

ONSTAGE THIS WEEK:

- “A Christmas Story the Musical” - First Stage Theatre Company presents the musical based of the story by Jean Shepherd about Ralphie, the boy who dreams of getting a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas, but everyone tells him, “You’ll shoot your eye out.” The show will be presented Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec.1 and Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2:30 p.m. at Huntington High School’s auditorium. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under.

- “The Red Badge of Courage” - Marshall University Theatre ETC! (Educational Touring Company) present the play by Stephen Crane on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Francis Booth Experimental Theatre at Marshall. Tickets are free!

- “MARY” - Contemporary Youth Arts Company presents the 22nd annual performance of Scarpelli and Kehde’s seasonal rock opera follows the life of the mother of Jesus during the nine months prior to birth. The show will be presented at 7 p.m. on Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1, and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 1 and 2.  All performance are in the Contemporary Youth Arts Company Theater, 2nd level, Charleston Town Center. Tickets are $8 for Students and $15 for Adults. Tickets are available at the door the night of the performance or online at cyacwv.showclix.com. There will also be a performance at Rock Branch Church in Nitro on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.

- “A Christmas Carol” - Jenny Wiley Theatre presents the classic play on Nov. 30, Dec. 1, 4, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. at 218 Second Street in Pikeville, Ky.

- "A Christmas Story the Musical" - Actor's Guild of Parkersburg presents the show based on the story of Ralphie, who wants a BB Gun for Christmas, at 724 Market Street in Parkersburg on Dec. 1 at 4 p.m., Dec. 2 at 6 p.m., and Dec. 7 and 8 at 8 p.m.

- “A Christmas Carol” - Contemporary Youth Arts Company presents local playwright Dan Kehde performing in a one-man presentation of the Charles Dickens holiday classic. The show will be presented at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6, 7 and 8, at 2 p.m. on Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13, 14 and 15, and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 16. All performance are in the Contemporary Youth Arts Company Theater, 2nd level, Charleston Town Center. Tickets are $8 for Students and $15 for Adults. Tickets are available at the door the night of the performance or online at cyacwv.showclix.com.

- “A Christmas Carol” - Portsmouth Little Theatre presents the classic play on Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. at 1117 Lawson Street in Portsmouth, Ohio.

- “Elf the Musical, Jr.” - The Children's Theatre of Charleston presents the musicls comedy on Dec. 6, 7, 8 and 9 at the Civic Center Little Theater. The musical tells the story of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

- “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” - The Alban Arts Center presents the holiday classic on Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 8 p.m., and Dec. 9 and 16 at 2 p.m. at the Albans Arts Center at 65 Olde Main Plaza in St. Albans. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for Seniors and Children 12 and under. 

- "Ebenezer" - 4th Avenue Arts presents dance and theatre artists presenting anl adaptation of Charles Dickens' story "A Christmas Carol." Through the lens of Scrooge, played by Gregory Morris, the audience will move through moments of the past, present, and future as a way to remind us all what is truly important in life. The performance will be presented at 1030 4th Avenue in Huntington on Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 3:30 p.m.

AUDITIONS:

AUDITIONS FOR: Alchemy Theatre Troupe’s Opening Night Cabaret! Directed by Dr. Johan Botes, this cabaret will kick off the group’s 2019 season. Auditions will be on Dec. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Dec. 15 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Choir Room in the Music Department at Marshall University. Prepare two songs of different styles (pop, ballad, jazz, etc). During the audition, you will have the opportunity to note which songs/shows/themes and types of acts interest you, so bring your ideas! The cabaret will be presented on Feb. 8  and 9 at 8 p.m.

AUDITIONS FOR: “Mamma Mia” and “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” - HART in the Park will hold auditions for both shows and for the Hart Jr. Preshow on Jan. 5 and 6 from noon to 4 p.m. at St. Clouds Common in Huntington. “Mamma Mia” show dates are the weekends of June 14 and 21, “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” show dates are the weekends of July 12, 19, and 26. HART Jr. Preshow will perform before Little Mermaid ONLY. We ask that you please prepare 30 seconds of a Musical Theatre/Disney song, and wear attire you can move in as there will be a dance combination taught!


AUDITIONS FOR: “Madagascar, Jr.” - The Children’s Theatre of Charleston will hold auditions Jan. 5 and 6. Performances will be March 28-31 at the Civic Center Little Theater. Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and an upbeat score, Madagascar JR. will leave audiences with no choice but to “Move It, Move It!”
