Coming Soon to a Theater Near You - Sweeney Todd

A week from Friday the movie Sweeney Todd lands in theaters. Directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp, it's already generated a lot of buzz. It seems an odd movie to release at Christmas, since it's all about a man who seeks a terrible revenge on the judge who destroyed his life - but that's Hollywood for you. Certainly the dark humor and the time period are a perfect match for Burton's style.

At any rate, here's the trailer for the movie, which gives you a quick glimpse of what to expect.

Ahhhh...it's the PERFECT Christmas movie!

...Maybe now since Sweeney Todd is being released as a movie starring Johnny Depp, it will be wildly popular like Chicago, Dreamgirls and Hairspray and some smart theatre group in our area will produce it for the local stage, confident in the fact that they will make money.

I will personally go see this several times at the theatre.

Ryan, I'm with you - I'm really looking forward to seeing this one. As to local theatre groups tackling the show, I'd love to see it! But in the meantime, I just saw where they're releasing "Sweeney Todd: the School Edition." Honest! Though I'd be shocked to see a local school group tackling that one.
