Getting Started on "James and the Giant Peach"

The cast of James and the Giant Peach had its first meeting tonight, and those are always fun, as the cast, their parents, the director and the producers get together for the first time to start the process of getting ready for the show.

The first meeting is all about saying "Hello" and getting the paperwork out of the way - filling out information forms, release forms and getting all the necessary email addresses - stuff like that.

The show is being guided by my pal Jonathan Joy, who's not only a terrific playwright and actor - he's also a great director! I know he's going to get the most out of this young cast, and he's an outstanding drama teacher, so they're going to learn a lot about stagecraft, too.

The producers for the First Stage Theatre Company show are Becky Craig and your humble blogger here (Chuck Minsker, that is). I'm wearing the (co-)producer hat for the first time in a while, but glad to be part of the team!

I'll have more updates as the rehearsal process moves along - we're just in the earliest stages right now, but it's a very talented cast, so you can expect great things when they take the stage at the Renaissance Theatre at the end of September!

(Not that I'm prejudiced or anything.)

Thanks for the kind words, Chuck. It was a terrific first rehearsal. Can't wait to see this on stage. It's one of my favorites.
