"Les Miserables" - "At the End of the Day"

One of the key story points in the original book Les Miserables was the plight of women and the terrors they were subjected to if they fell on hard times.

Without work, they were forced into the most degrading, difficult circumstances - and that's exactly what Fantine (the amazing Anne Hathaway) faces, as her secret - that she had a child out of wedlock - threatens her job at the company owned by the reformed Jean Valjean.

Her confrontation with the Foreman is at the heart of the song, "At the End of the Day."
