On Stage in May

   Lots of great shows taking the stage in May - here's a rundown:

- The Boy Friend - ARTS presents the dance-filled musical at the Renaissance Theatre at 900 8th Street in Huntington. The show will be presented May 23, 24, 30, 31 at 8 p.m. and May 25 and June 1 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the show only, and $30 for both dinner and show by reservation only - call 304-733-2787.

Leap of Faith - Huntington High School Fine Arts presents the musical by Alan Menken, Glenn Slater, Janus Cercone and Warren Leight on May 1, 2, 8, 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and May 3, 4 and 11 at 3 p.m. It will be presented at the Huntington High School Theatre at One Highlander Way.  Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

The Three Musketeers - LimeLight Theatre presents the classic story by Alexandre Dumas on May 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. and May 4 at 2 p.m. at the WVSU Captol Center Theatre, 123 Summers Street in Charleston. Tickets are $15 for adults and $11 for children. Call 304-342-6522 for more information.

Antigone - The classic play by Sophocles will ne presented at the Alban Arts Center at 65 Olde Main Plaza in St Albans on May 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. and May 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Adults and $10 for Students and Seniors. 9 To 5: The Musical - Charleston Light Opera Guild presents the musical based on the hit movie. It features Dolly Parton's original hit title song along with her new Tony Award and Grammy-nominated score. It tells the story of three unlikely friends who conspire to take control of their company and learn there's nothing they can't do — even in a man's world. The show will be staged at the Charleston Civic Center Little Theatre on May 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and May 11 at 3 p.m. All seats are reserved and $20 each. 

Parallel Lives -The Kathy and Mo show - Contemporary Youth Arts Company (CYAC) presents the comedy May 29, 30 and 31 at 8 p.m. and June 5, 6 and 7 at 8 p.m. at the WVSU Capitol Center Theater at 123 Summers Street in Charleston. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students.

A Second Helping - CBL2 - Jenny Wiley Theatre kicks off its season on May 29, 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mainstage Pikeville. Join the Church Basement Ladies once again as the Church Basement Ladies sequel picks up the story up in 1969 as the world is dramatically changing. While protests of the Vietnam War increase and women everywhere demand equal pay for equal work, the ladies of the Lutheran church basement kitchen are dealing with changes of their own. Filled with heartwarming humor and antics, A Second Helping: The Church Basement Ladies Sequel examines life in a small town through the stories of those fed from the church basement kitchen. 

Get Smart - Teays Valley Christian School presents the play and dinner May 2-3 at 7 p.m. at 4373 Teays Valley Road in Scott Depot. Tickets are $15 for adults. $10 for children 10 years and under.

God of Carnage - Mid-Ohio Valley Players present the play on May 2 and 3 and 9 and 10 at 8 p.m., and May 4 at 3 p.m. at the Mid-Ohio Valley Players Theatre at 229 Putnam Street in Marietta, Ohio. Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for seniors and students, and $6 for youth (to age 16). Opening night only: buy one, get one free ticket (of equal or lesser value).

Shrek: The Musical - the Actors Guild of Parkersburg present the musical comedy based on the beloved animated film on May 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and May 4, 11 and 17 at 2:30 p.m. The show will be presented at 724 Market Street in Parkersburg (corner of 8th and Market). Tickets are $17 for adults, $14 for seniors/students and $7 for children (age 10 and under).

Grease - the beloved musical will be presented at the Southern WV Community and Technical College at 3505 Daniel Boone Parkway in Foster, W.Va. on May 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. and May 11 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

Murder and Merriment - presents murder mysteries: “Post Time for Murder” on May 2 at 7 p.m. and May 3 at 6 p.m. at the South Charleston Holiday Inn in Charleston. Tickets are $40 - Reservations Required: 304-744-0051; “Another Fistful of Bullets” May 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. at The Greenhouse of Teays Valley in Hurricane. Tickets are $40, Reservations Required: 304-397-6316; “Another Fistful of Bullets” on May 31 at 7 p.m. Fundraiser to Benefit the Bridgeport Cemetery will be presented at Benedum Civic Ctr at 164 W. Main Street in Bridgeport, W.Va. Tickets are $40, or $70 per couple, Reservations Required: 304-842-2641.
