Here’s the show lineup for the week, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019. Upcoming shows and auditions are also listed. If I've missed anything, please let me know.

ONSTAGE THIS WEEK:

“In the Wake” - Marshall University’s School of Theatre presents the play by Lisa Kron on Feb. 20, 21, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Francis-Booth Experimental Theatre of The Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center. It’s Thanksgiving of 2000 and the presidential election still has not been decided. A funny, passionate, and ultimately searing new play that illuminates assumptions that lie at the heart of the American character—and the blind spots that mask us from ourselves.

“Anne of Green Gables” - written and directed by Lawrence Burgess. The play will be performed at The Capitol Theater of Resurrection Church at 123 Summers Street in Charleston on Feb. 22 and 23 at 8 p.m., Feb. 24 at 3 p.m., and Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.

UPCOMING LIVE THEATRE

"The Game's Afoot" - Actor's Guild of Parkersburg will present the Sherlock Holmes-based play on March 1, 2, 8, 9 15, and 16 at 8 p.m. and March 10 at 2:30 p.m.

“The Little Prince” - Portsmouth Little Theatre - The adventures of an aviator and a “little man” who tells about his adventures will be presented March 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m.

“Cinderella” - The Marshall Artist’s Series presenta the Rodgers & Hammerstein Tony Award-winning Broadway musical on March 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center. The lush production features an orchestra, jaw-dropping transformations, and all the moments you love - the pumpkin, the glass slipper, the masked ball and more - plus some surprising new twists!

“Newsies” - First Stage Theatre Company will present the musical about the newsboy strike that changed history in New York City. Performances will be at Huntington High School’s auditorium at 1 Highlander Way on March 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m. and March 9 and 10 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.

”Mary Poppins the Musical" - The Paramount Players present the Disney musical at the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, Ky., on March 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and March 16 at 3 p.m.

”To Kill a Mockingbird" - The classic story by Harper Lee will be presented March 28, 29, 30 and 31 at the Southern WV and Technical Community College.

 “Madagascar, Jr.” - The Children’s Theatre of Charleston will present the musical adventures of Alex the lion and his friends, Marty the giraffe, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo. Shows will be at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center on March 29 at 7 p.m., March 30 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and March 31 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for Adults and $10 for students.

UPCOMING AUDITIONS:

AUDITIONS FOR: "Picasso at the Lapine Agile” written by Steve Martin, will be presented by the Alchemy Theatre Troupe and directed by Mike Murdock. Auditions will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Boys and Girls Club at 432 W 14th Street in Huntington and start at 12:30 p.m. each day. Auditions are open for men and women ages 18 and up. All roles are open. Sides will be provided for cold readings. The show contains adult language and situations.
