Here’s the show lineup for the week, beginning Wednesday, March 20, 2019. Upcoming shows and auditions are also listed. If I've missed anything, please let me know.

ONSTAGE THIS WEEK:

- Country superstar Kathy Mattea will perform at the Charleston Light Opera Guild Theatre on March 22 to commemorate CLOG's 70th anniversary season. Tickets  are $70 in advance, or at the door for $75. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

- “A Predator Among Us” and “The Girls Room” – CYAC presents two dramatic plays March 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. at the CYAC Theater on the 2nd Level, Charleston Town Center.  Tickets are $8 for students / senior citizens or $15 for adults.

UPCOMING LIVE THEATRE

- ”To Kill a Mockingbird" - The classic story by Harper Lee will be presented March 28, 29, 30 and 31 at the Southern WV and Technical Community College.

- “Madagascar, Jr.” - The Children’s Theatre of Charleston will present the musical adventures of Alex the lion and his friends, Marty the giraffe, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo. Shows will be at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center on March 29 at 7 p.m., March 30 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and March 31 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for Adults and $10 for students.

- “Disney’s Frozen, Jr.” - The Aracoma Story presents the musical based on the beloved animated movie. Shows will be at the Coalfield Jamboree in Logan, W.Va., on April 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. and April 7 and 14 at 2 p.m.

- “Rock of Ages” - Marshall Artist’s Series presents the touring show of the hit Broadway musical. Nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, the musical captures the iconic era that was the big bad 1980s Hollywood. “Know What Love Is,” “Feel The Noise,” and “Take Your Best Shot” at one of the Sunset Strip’s last epic venues, a place where the legendary Stacee Jaxx returns to the stage and rock-n-roll dreamers line up to turn their fantasies into reality. The show will be on April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center.

- “Kinky Boots” – The Clay Center at 1 Clay Square in Charleston will present the touring Broadway musical hit on April 11 at 7:30 p.m. 

- “Tartuffe” - Marshall University’s School of Theatre presents the play by Moliere, translated by Richard Wilbur, on April 24, 25, 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Playhouse of the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center. The story takes place in the home of the wealthy Orgon, where Tartuffe - a fraud and a pious impostor - has insinuated himself. His duplicity is finally exposed and punished. But not before the author has mercilessly examined the evil that men can commit in the guise of religious fervor and the dangers that imperil those who would believe only what they choose to believe despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

- Chicago the Musical” – The Clay Center at 1 Clay Square in Charleston will present the touring Broadway hit on April 24, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.

- “42nd Street” - Charleston Light Opera Guild presents the singing and dancing classic atd the Little Theatre at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center on April 26, 27 and May 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11, 2019. Set in 1933, it follows the story of a young woman who rises to stardom on the Broadway stage. The show features a score by Al Dubin and Harry Warren and features hits like “Lullaby of Broadway” and “Shuffle Off to Buffalo.”

- “Anne of Green Gables” - written and directed by Lawrence Burgess. The play will be performed at The Capitol Theater of Resurrection Church at 123 Summers Street in Charleston on April 26-28, and May 3-5.

- “Something Rotten!” – The Clay Center at 1 Clay Square in Charleston will present the touring Broadway musical hit on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.

- AUDITIONS FOR: “Mamma Mia” - The Aracoma Story will hold auditions on Friday, March 29 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 30 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Logan High School Little Theater. All roles available for adults and teenagers. Prepare about one minute of any song the shows off your vocal range. No monologues required, be prepared to read from a script, which will be provided. ABBA's hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. The story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship, creating an unforgettable show. A large cast, non-stop laughs and explosive dance numbers combine to make Mamma Mia a trip down the aisle you'll never forget!
