Interview with Joanna Murdock from "Picasso at the Lapin Agile"

This weekend marks the premiere of the latest show from Alchemy Theatre, Huntington’s newest theatre company!

They’re presenting a very funny play - Picasso at the Lapin Agile, written by Steve Martin (yes, THAT Steve Martin).

We have interviews with the cast to share, and let’s start with the beautiful and talented Joanna Murdock:

Q: What's Picasso at the Lapin Agile about - and what is a Lapin Agile?

Joanna: Well you’ll have to come and see for yourself what it’s about! I can tell you there’s a cast of unlikely characters,  shenanigans, and a bit of magic. (Lapin Agile means something like nimble rabbit:)

Q: What character do you play?

Joanna: I play Suzanne.

Q: Rumor has it that this play is funny. True?

Joanna: Oui!

Q: Why did you want to be part of this play?

Joanna: This play was a part of the season my first year at college and I loved the production - I wasn’t a part of the cast that time so I jumped at the chance to give it a second try!

Q: Any unusual challenges with this show?

Joanna: Wearing a corset.

Q: Why would you recommend this play to our readers?

Joanna: Steve Martin wrote it, he is very funny. We have a great cast and crew and I think we are pretty funny as well. Plus we’ll have candy for sale at intermission.

   Thanks, Joanna!

Picasso at the Lapin Agile is being presented by Alchemy Theatre Troupe on April 4, 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. at the Kindred Communications Building at 555 5th Avenue in Huntington. Tickets are general admission and are $15 each.
