Interview with "Anna" from "Frozen, Jr."

The musical Disney’s Frozen Jr. will be presented at Huntington High School beginning this Friday. It’s based on the story of two loving sisters - one who develops an amazing power that threatens her kingdom, and the other who will fight against all odds to save her sister.

We have several interviews with the young cast to share, and up first is the lovely and talented Nikki Riniti, who plays the part of the younger sister, Anna:

Q: Tell us about Frozen Jr - is it different from the animated film?

Nikki: Frozen Jr explores Anna, Elsa, and other’s journey of discovering true love! Though it stays true to the film, there are a few new songs that everyone will love! The music is also pitched down slightly in order to accommodate children’s voices.

Q: Why did you want to be part of this show?

Nikki: Playing Anna has always been a dream of mine! She’s a princess that I have grown up with and admired since I was a child, so when the opportunity arose, I was beyond excited!

Q: Tell us about the character you play.

Nikki: Anna is a naive, courageous girl who simply wants to discover life outside of the castle. She’s a high energy, bubbly force to be reckoned with. Her determination and drive is unmatchable! Anna would do anything for the ones she loves (and she loves easily!).

Q: What's the most challenging this about the show?

Nikki: I would say the fast-paced movement while singing is a definite hurdle! It is incredibly difficult to sing and dance at the same time, but that’s what makes performing Frozen Jr so rewarding.

Q: If a kid is thinking about being in a future show, what advice would you give them?

Nikki: Do it! I started doing shows with First Stage about a year and a half ago, but I wish I would’ve started so much sooner! It’s truly the best experience and you make so many new, incredible friends. We are a welcoming family and would love to have you! Theatre is truly indescribable. Of course, you may be nervous at first - everyone is. Just remember, we all want to see you succeed and be happy, so you got this!

Q: Why would you recommend this show to our readers?

Nikki: This show is a family-friendly classic that truly caters to all ages; the whole family will love it! Frozen Jr is an energetic, upbeat musical that explores so many beautiful aspects of life: love, heartbreak, tragedy, courage, and more!

   Thanks, Nikki!
