Where Did The Time Go?

This is one of those days that just flew past.

I did manage to spend a couple of hours this evening going over set construction ideas for High School Musical with my pal Jack Welch. I don't know how we could do a show like this without him - he can take the crudest sketches and turn them into towering sets.

This show is going to be a challenge, with quite a few set pieces to build and some interesting on-set challenges to deal with - but that's all part of the fun!

Jack's also a heck of a nice guy, and I'm so glad to have him on the HSM team. Thanks, Jack!

Chuck,

I didnt see a way to start a new topic, so I will reply to this one. Just a note about another First Stage Alum living the dream. We ran into Brandon Giles' parents last night at freshman orientation (another subject altogether) and inquired about Brandon. As you can imagine, he has his fingers in many pies. He is now associated with Lex Liang (www.lexliang.com) and he is listed on the above web site as an associate designer. Also, here is a link to Brandon's BLOG with pictures from some sets he has worked on in New York as well as some pictures from local productions he designed. http://www.bgilesdesign.blogspot.com/

Later,
Allen

Allen, thanks for the info. By coincidence, I just traded emails with Brandon. It sounds like he's working long hours and loving it. For those who don't know him, Brandon was a double-threat performer - terrific on stage and a brilliant designer behind the scenes. He designed and built sets for First Stage shows like "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Honk" and "Seussical: the Musical," and many for other groups, including "Jesus Christ Superstar." It's great to see he's putting his skills to work in New York, and we wish him all the success in the world (especially since I can say I knew him when)!
